Bruno Fernandes has matched Cristiano Ronaldo\u2019s total of six Premier League Player of the Month awards, securing the latest gong for March 2025 and doing so faster than his compatriot. No other Manchester United star in the history of the competition can match either Portuguese figurehead, and only three players from any club have been recognised more often.<\/p>\n
Benjamin \u0160e\u0161ko\u2019s strike against Aston Villa was the only Manchester United goal last month that did not carry Fernandes\u2019s influence.<\/p>\n
This March prize was Fernandes\u2019s first individual award in 12 months. Before he scooped the prize for March 2025, the Portugal international had not been recognised since his debut year at Old Trafford. His sequence of decorated months in the Premier League reads: February 2020 (2 apps, 1G 2A), June 2020 (3 apps, 3G 0A), November 2020 (4 apps, 4G 1A), December 2020 (6 apps, 3G 4A), March 2025 (2 apps, 2G 2A) and March 2026 (4 apps, 2G 4A). Fernandes achieved the rare feat of winning the Player of the Month award after his first month in the competition and became the first player to be crowned the best in four separate months during the same calendar year.<\/p>\n
Ronaldo\u2019s own purple patches were noted across his career. His Premier League Player of the Month honours included November 2006 (5 apps, 2G 0A), December 2006 (6 apps, 7G 2A), January 2008 (4 apps, 6G 1A), March 2008 (5 apps, 5G 3A), as well as September 2021 (3 apps, 3G 0A) and April 2022 (4 apps, 5G 0A). Gary Neville reflected on Ronaldo\u2019s development: \u201cHe came back from the 2006 World Cup and his maturity had changed.\u201d Neville added, \u201cHis appearance and physical attributes completely changed overnight.<\/p>\n

He was incredible from a strength point of view and the ability to leap, change direction, everything fell into place. From that moment on you knew he was going to be really special.\u201d<\/p>\n

With April and May awards still to be decided, Fernandes\u2019s attention is focused on the Premier League after Manchester United\u2019s exits from other competitions.
